Four steps

How to find the right local group near you

You don't need to know an organisation's exact name to find it. Work down from the type of thing you're after to the suburb you can actually get to.

  1. Search by name or interest

Type what you remember into the search box — a club name, a sport, a language, 'choir', 'men's shed'. We match against the organisation name, its description and its type tags, so a partial memory is usually enough.

  2. Filter down with the chips

Pick an organisation type: community groups, clubs and associations, schools and education, sport, arts and culture, services, local businesses or volunteering. Add a suburb or town, and switch on 'verified only' if you want official listings first.

  3. Read the card before you click

Every result card carries the same fields in the same spots: name, type tags, suburb, one-line description, website or social link, verification level and the last-updated date. If a listing looks stale, that date tells you straight away.

  4. Open the full profile

Each organisation gets its own page with its own heading, description, contact links, approved social sources, location and map data, and any upcoming events pulled through from the events calendar. Organisation and local business details are marked up so search engines read them properly.

How we work

A clear path from first conversation to finished work.

  1. Events Calendar and What's On

A searchable, filterable calendar of local events with month, week and list views, plus an individual page for every published event showing venue, times, cost, accessibility notes and organiser details.

  2. Submit an Event, Notice or Organisation

Straightforward submission forms for organisers, community groups and businesses, with a clear moderation process and status shown on every submission before it is published.

  3. Local Organisations Directory

Profiles for community groups, clubs, associations, schools, sporting bodies, services and local businesses, each with contact links, related events and location data.

  4. Community News and Notices

Articles, announcements and community notices covering what is happening across the Toowoomba region, with source and last-updated details on every item.

If we didn't publish it ourselves, the organisation sent it to us and one of us read it before it went live. That's the whole promise — and the verification level on every card tells you which of those two happened.

Each type below is a filter you can switch on. Some are fuller than others, and the empty ones are simply waiting on the groups themselves.

Common questions

What people ask us before they list a group

Mostly about how listings get checked, what ends up on a profile, and who can change it later.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my group, club or business listed?
Send us the details through the contact and submission page. We ask for the organisation name, the type of group it is, a short description, a suburb or town, and a website, email or social link people can use to reach you. One of our admins reads it, checks the links work, then publishes it.
What's actually on an organisation profile page?
Its own web address and heading, your description, contact links, any approved social sources, location and map data, and upcoming events linked through from the events calendar. Behind the scenes the page carries Organisation or local business structured data, so search engines and maps can read your details properly.
What does the verification level mean?
It records where the information came from: published by our admins, submitted by the organisation, or not yet confirmed. It isn't a quality rating and it isn't a badge we hand out. If your details have changed, tell us and we'll update the profile and the last-updated date.
Can we advertise volunteer roles?
Yes. Groups can flag open volunteer roles on their profile, and those roles show up under the volunteering filter as well. Tell us the role, roughly what's involved and who to contact. When no roles are published anywhere, that list stays honestly empty.
Do our events show up on our profile?
If you publish events with us, they appear on your profile as upcoming events and in the main events calendar, filterable by date, category and suburb. Submit each event once and it does both jobs.
Why is a category empty?
Because no organisation of that type has been published yet. We don't scrape listings or pad a category out with businesses that never asked to be here, so an empty result is the truthful answer until someone sends theirs in.
Can I update or remove our listing later?
Get in touch and tell us what's changed — new contact person, a moved meeting night, a closed club. We'll amend or unpublish the profile. Nothing stays live if the group behind it asks us to take it down.
Does it cost anything to be listed?
A standard directory profile is here for local groups to use. If you'd like to promote an event or listing more prominently, ask us about promotion options when you get in touch and we'll explain what's available.
